The Department of International Studies and History, CHRIST(Deemed To be University) organised a guest lecture and a book release of Navin Chawla, former Chief Election Commissioner of India in the Main Auditorium on 18th  February 2018 between 2-4PM.
The session began by invoking the blessings of the almighty via the lighting of the lamp ceremony by Navin Chawla, Sri Manoj, Sri Sanjeev Kumar, Sri N Manjunath Prasad, Sri Somnath Das, Dr John Joseph Kennedy, Fr Jose and Dr Madhumati Deshpande. Sri Manoj, Sri Sanjeev Kumar and Sri Somnath Das have worked with our esteemed guest of honour Navin Chawla in the process of electoral reforms whereas Sri N Manjunath Prasad is currently serving as the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike’s Commissioner. Sri Navin Chawla during his guest lecture appealed the audience to combat fake news and corruption among the media who are supporting undeserving candidates. He made an appeal that we mustn’t support the person possessing money power and must his seize that human ingenuity by being a vigilant observer.. Finally, the session concluded by question and answers regrading NOTA, security issues etc.

Overall, the session was fruitful and imbibed the spirit of political consciousness and importance of voting in every citizen’s mind. As a moral obligation, we will follow the guidelines and vote for the right candidate in the upcoming elections.
